How to install the VCS client software on a PC

Introduction

The VCS client software can be downloaded and installed on any PC, as long as it has access to the server’s network. NOTE: Java is required in order to run the software.

Downloading The VCS Software

The VCS software can be downloaded by any client directly from the server.

• Make sure the client PC is connected to the same network as the server.
• Once connectivity is verified, open up a web browser and type the server’s IP address in the address bar. This will take you to the server’s web page.
• Click on the appropriate link depending on your Operating System to download the Installer file.

Installing the VCS Software

• Once the software has been downloaded, navigate to the location on your PC it was saved to.
• Right click on the file and select “Run as administrator”
• NOTE: If you do not have administrative rights on your PC, you will need to speak with your Network Administrator to continue.
• Click through the Installation Wizard and leave everything as defaults unless specified by Acuity-vct Support, such as the file path created.
• Once completed, launch the VCS by selecting the newly created icon on your desktop, and click the “Add Server” button on the login menu that opens.
• Create a new server:
• Server name can be whatever you would like as it is unique to your PC.
• The IP address should be the IP you used to download the installed from the server in the web browser
• The port should be left at 8000 unless specified by Acuity-vct Support.
• Login with your username and password to the VCS - this should be given to you by your system administrator or Acuity-vct Support
